You will find the Prtscn/ PrtScr key on the top right section of your keyboard usually it is installed next to the F12 key.

After pressing the print screen key on the keyboard, it will take a screenshot of the entire screen of your desktop and the image file will be saved to the Windows clipboard then you can paste it anywhere like - paint, paint 3d, Wordpad, sticky notes, etc.


2 - Windows + Print Screen - Autosave a screenshot

It is the easiest way to take screenshots and this method was introduced in Windows 10 and it is the easiest method to take screenshots on Windows 11.

Simply press the Windows shortcut key + Print Screen key on your keyboard.

When you will press both the keys you will see a flash capture on your PC screen it means a screenshot has been taken and it has been saved to your computer. Generally, it gets saved into a folder named screenshots or maybe in the documents on your computer depends on the location you chose for the action.

Note: On some computers/ laptops you will have to activate the print screen button by pressing the function key. To do that use the Windows key + Function(fn) + Print screen to take screenshots.


3 - Alt + Print Screen Key - Take a Screenshot of Active Windows

When you will apply the first 2 above methods it will take the screenshots of the entire desktop, but you can also capture just the active window section instead of the whole desktop in Windows 11.

To capture the window you have to press the Alt key + Print Screen on your keyboard. It is the same as the method we discussed above this will copy the screenshot to the Windows clipboard. Then you can paste that screenshot into any of the applications like paint, paint 3D, etc before saving it on your device.


4 - By using the Snipping Tool - Built-in tool to take the screenshots in Windows 11

The snipping tool was introduced in Windows 10 and is continued in Windows 11. It is a very simple fast and efficient tool to take screenshots of any part of your desktop. You can take a screenshot of the entire screen or a specific part. The screenshot will be copied to the snipping tool and then you have to press the save button or Ctrl+S keys to save the screenshot captured with the snipping tool.
